EngineWorks Announces Sponsorship of International Cycling Team

Team to Compete in Legendary La Fausto Coppi Race in Italy on August 30, 2009

PORTLAND, Ore. (August 6, 2009) – EngineWorks, Inc. The cycling team, which will perform under the name of ‘Team EngineWorks’, is scheduled to ride in the upcoming International Granfondo LA FAUSTO COPPI 2009 (a.k.a. La Fausto Coppi) road bike race taking place in Italy on August 30, 2009.

Its lead rider, Gary Spodnick, recently completed a rigorous training regiment with Chris Carmichael, founder and CEO of Carmichael Training Systems, Inc., and personal coach to seven-time Tour de France Champion Lance Armstrong.

The La Fausto Coppi is a legendary cycling race named after the famed Italian rider Angelo Fausto Coppi that originates in Cuneo, Italy. This grueling 200 kilometer road race loops its way through the daunting mountains of Northern Italy, and culminates in the central Galimberti Public Square at the original starting point in Cuneo.

Angelo Fausto Coppi, arguably the greatest cyclist of all time (second, perhaps, only to Eddy Merckx or Lance Armstrong), was the dominant international cyclist during the years on each side of World War II. His successes earned him the title Il Campionissimo, or “Champion of Champions”, as he won the Tour de France twice, the Giro d’Italia five times, the World Championship in 1953, and numerous other multi-year victories in some of Europe’s most prestigious races.
