Another indicator of the importance of online search marketing was revealed last week. In a report released on June 16, 2009, Nielsen Online announced that the total number of online searches in the United States increased more than twenty percent (+20.3%) in May 2009 compared to the same month last year, from 7.8 billion to 9.4 billion.
“Facebook is becoming the go-to social networking site for marketers,” said eMarketer senior analyst Debra Aho Williamson. “While MySpace still has a huge quantity of visitors, they are becoming less relevant for advertisers.” This revealing statement was conveyed in an eMarketer article today titled ‘Facebook Overtakes MySpace’ which reported that for the first time ever, Facebook has become the most popular social networking site in the United States.

This most current edition features at report from WordTracker that identifies the Top 300 search queries within the largest Meta engines (e.g., Metacrawler, Dogpile, etc.) during the past 48 hours.
This morning, the G-Men and Women from Mountain View released their new search results product developed by Google Labs called Google Squared. In actuality, Google Squared is not a new product, but rather a new way that Google displays search results.
