Juggling the critical elements of Search Engine Optimization requires a great deal of effort and skill. You must research the best keywords, create useful meta tags, develop effective interlinking, track your visitors, craft strong content, consider user experience, seek out quality links, and on and on. But if you can control this high-wire act, the outcome can greatly improve your Web site’s presence across the search engine landscape.
An interesting article from Vertical Measures, LLC titled ‘An SEO is Not a Link Builder…And a Link Builder is not an SEO’ details the numerous strategies that can be employed to achieve high rankings in search engine results. The author gives a quality overview of the type of results a business can expect from an SEO campaign. He succinctly defines SEO as ”the process of modifying a website’s content, and structure to maximize the chances of a higher ranking within search engine results” and warns you’ll be disappointed if you expect it to be a magic bullet for all your site’s problems. Successful SEO campaigns focus attention on three main disciplines: quality content, well-optimized structure, and link building.
PORTLAND, Ore. (November 5, 2008) — EngineWorks, Inc. (www.engineworks.com), a high performance Search Engine Marketing (SEM) company, is pleased to announce that its Vice President of Strategy, Kent Schnepp, will be moderating the upcoming Search Engine Marketing Professionals of Portland (SEMpdx) Hot Seat titled ‘Web Analytics . . . Do You Know What You Are Looking At?’ on Tuesday, November 11, 2008.
This eventful evening of search marketing education, social networking, and dinner is taking place from 5:30pm to 8:00pm at Hotel DeLuxe in beautiful downtown Portland, Oregon.
As the SEMpdx board member in charge of events, Kent Schnepp has assembled a panel of Web Analytics experts to present the most current best practices on effective Web Analytics strategies designed to enhance your online marketing performance. This esteemed panel will feature Eric Peterson, author of the book titled Web Analytics Demystified, and Ian Lurie, president and CEO of Portent Interactive.
‘Web Analytics’ is defined as the measurement, collection, analysis and reporting of Internet data for the purposes of understanding and optimizing Web usage, according to the Web Analytics Association. While the majority of this definition is fairly straight forward, it is the ‘understanding’ component that can make difference between just having a Web site, and having a Web site surpass your marketing goals.

I attended the Travel Industry Association’s (TIA) Marketing Outlook Forum last week here in Portland. There were a few main themes that ran through this conference focused on providing travel industry forecasts, marketing trends, and education.
Three main takeaways from the conference:
