B2B Companies Turn to Interactive Marketing

Posted by Sean McMahon on 09.29.2008

In an encouraging article today titled ‘B2B Marketers Ready to Spend Online’, eMarketer reports that a study by Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business reveals that business-to-business (B2B) companies in the United States expect to spend more marketing dollars on Internet advertising compared to traditional media channels in the coming ten (10) months.  In fact, the B2B companies in this report, which was sponsored by the American Marketing Association, stated that they are going to increase their interactive marketing budget by more than 18% during this time period.

This 18% increase in online marketing efforts is three times (3x) the amount that these same companies plan to spend on traditional marketing.  The following table from eMarketer highlights this favorable trend for online marketing firms, especially search engine marketing companies:

Areas of Marketing Spending Growth in the Next 12 Months According to B2B Marketers, July 2008 (% change)

Even with the challenging conditions in the financial markets today, more and more of the nation’s businesses are embracing the tremendous ROI results and measurability offered by online marketing campaigns.  As revealed in this survey, B2B businesses are doing the same.
