Google Capitalizes on Another Advancement

Posted by Sean McMahon on 08.28.2008

In an article published today titled ‘Google’s new search feature’, Fortune reports that the search giant has rolled-out its latest enhancement to their query process called Google Suggest.

Google Suggest automatically serves-up possible iterations of search queries as they are typed into Google’s search box on the company’s home page.  The purpose for this new feature is to assist users in narrowing their search, and to provide proper spelling recommendations, according to Google.

Upon initial review, this new search feature appears to be similar to the Search Assist feature that has been offered by Yahoo! for more than a year now.  I wouldn’t say Google is attempting to catch-up to Yahoo! in terms of technological advancements.  However, one thing the G-Men from Mountain View are very good at, is embracing and enhancing smart ideas.

Let me know if you perceive this new feature to be an improvement to the user experience during searches performed on Google.
