Search Marketing to Increase in Second Half 2008

On Friday of last week, eMarketer reported in an article titled ‘Search ad spending keeps growing’ that both online advertisers and media agencies anticipate increasing their spend on Search Engine Marketing campaigns during the second half of 2008. In fact, this article states that online businesses plan to increase their Paid Search Marketing spending by more than one-third, while agencies claim that they will increase their PPC spending by more than one-half.

In addition, the media agencies surveyed in this article indicate that they are planning to increase spending on Natural SEO engagement by more than 70% in the next six months. The online businesses plan to increase SEO spending by 25%. Here are the impressive projections for increases in 2008 search marketing budgets, according to eMarketer:

These favorable projections provide even more evidence that marketers today continue to migrate an ever-increasing amount of dollars to high performance search marketing campaigns, even as other traditional forms of media experience challenging times in our current economic conditions.
