You Can Keep The Dime, Says Yahoo!

by Sean McMahon | April 16, 2008

In a DMNews article yesterday titled ‘Yahoo to Eliminate 10 Cent Minimum Keyword Bid’, Ellen Keohane reported that Yahoo! will be removing this minimum requirement for its text-based sponsored search ads in the United States this week.

Yahoo! states that the reasoning behind this decision is that the elimination of the minimum price “is simply the next step in Yahoo’s ultimate goal of offering the most efficient pricing for high quality advertisers and continually improving the ad quality for our end users.”

I perceive that this could impact PPC campaigns for small advertisers, however, probably will have very little impact upon our clients here at EngineWorks.  I also view this announcement by Yahoo! as their latest attempt to emulate the G-Men in Mountain View.  Let me know if you think this decision will help Yahoo! to gain ground on the leader of the pack.
