Full Steam Ahead . . . For Online Ad Spending

Posted by Sean McMahon on 04.01.2008

Yesterday, in a promising article title “Online Heads for 10% of Total US Ad Spend”, eMarketer put forth the prediction that total online advertising will account for almost 9% of total of U.S. ad spending in 2008.

An even more encouraging forecast in this article stated that online advertising will surpass $30 billion next year, to account for a full 10% of all advertising in the United States. The following chart reveals the positive trend for Internet advertising growth as prognosticated by the online market research company:

Growth rates for overall domestic advertising are expected to actually decline over the next two years.  However, the impressive projected increase in online ad spending is expected to enable our industry’s growth rate to surpass all other major media during this time frame.

The eMarketer article went on to state that the increases in the growth rate of total online ad spending will continue to be in the mid-teens, or higher, through 2011.

As more and more commercial entities realize the incredible value proposition associated with the measurable ROI delivered through interactive media campaigns such as Paid Search Marketing and Natural SEO, I predict that these favorable trends will continue for many years beyond 2011.

Let me know what you think.
