A New Year . . . A New Google
Posted by Sean McMahon on 12.25.2007In a very intriguing article titled”8 Bold Predictions on Google’s Next Moves”, Stacy Collett with ComputerWorld interviewed several high profile individuals within the online search marketing industry to get their predictions on what the search behemoth is planning to conquer in the coming year. One of the most insightful responses came from a long-time industry friend of mine, Peter Hershberg, the very bright co-founder and managing partner at the top-tier search marketing firm Reprise Media.
As Peter very astutely pointed-out, the launch of the gPhone in 2008 will be a tremendous leap forward for the company in terms of having individuals view Google as something more than just a search engine. “This may be the true rationale behind the launch of mobile gPhones — which is convenience,” Hershberg says. “The gPhone will undoubtedly have out-of-the-box integration with every Google application that’s out there. The value in having all that information under the Google cloud in your pocket at any time may be the reason why people finally start to adopt these applications.”
Given that more than 95% of all visitors at Google never use any function other online search, a key focus for the company in the New Year will be to get users to adopt more and more of its ancillary services.
Let me know if you have a prediction as to what Google will do next to remain on top.
