Here’s an encouraging report that came out today from DM News reporting that this year’s Halloween season is expected to generate more than $5 billion in Halloween-related sales. According to the National Retail Federation, consumers plan to spend significantly more this year on the spooky holiday compared to last year.
First off, let me apologize for the lack of recent posts to our EngineWorks blog. We have been extremely busy with the addition of several new team members (Rachel Nordquist, Scott Fish, Ryan Craven, Chloe Collins and Kimberly Nickelson), as well as launching robust campaigns for numerous new world-class clients. That said; let’s turn our attention to the topic of improving results through Google’s new universal search offering.

September 18, 2007 (Portland, OR) — EngineWorks, Inc. The Company is pleased to have Kimberly Nickelson and Ryan Craven join its dynamic Paid Search Management Department. Ms. Nickelson brings significant interactive media experience to EngineWorks. Prior to EngineWorks, Kimberly held the position of Production/Web Designer at Dart Marketing & Design in Eugene, Oregon. In addition, she was a Software User Interface Designer with McAfee, Inc. in Beaverton, Oregon. Ms. Nickelson earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Design from Oregon State University.
Ryan Craven, a recent University of Oregon graduate, has also joined the Company’s Paid Search Management Department. Mr. Craven received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the Charles H. Lundquist College of Business in June of 2007. Ryan’s Business Degree and his knowledge of Paid Search marketing is already contributing to the success of client campaigns at EngineWorks.
Finally, EngineWorks has hired Chloe Collins to the position of Search Marketing Specialist in the Company’s Natural SEO Department. As a recent double-major at Portland State University, Ms. Collins brings substantial analytic and research skills to EngineWorks. A Portland, Oregon native, Chloe earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and her Bachelor of Science Degree in General Science in August 2007.

In addition to her Paid Search campaign management expertise, Rachel has years of experience in client service and relationship management in the online search industry. During her tenure at her former search marketing company, she was instrumental in creating and directing the Account Management Department for more than 3 years. Ms. Nordquist provided direct communication and campaign updates to some of the world’s largest companies and online businesses.
A native to Oregon, Rachel has an Associate Degree in Multimedia Design and Production. She also has detailed knowledge of Paid Inclusion search marketing campaigns and Natural search engine optimization strategies.

Yahoo recently announced that it was buying BlueLithium, a behavior and demographic ad network, for $300 million in cash. BlueLithium claims to be the fifth largest ad network in the United States, and the second largest in the UK with a combined 145 million unique visitors every month. The company has two proprietary technologies called AdPath Behavioral Targeting and Selective Inventory Partnerships. The company was founded in 2004 and has 10 offices globally.
In an August 31, 2007 article on DMnews.com, Lauren Bell reports that industry leader Google continues to expand its presence in the world’s second largest Internet country. The article titled “Google expands reach in China” identifies that the search engine expanded its partnership to place Google technologies on more China.com Web sites.

In this previous position, he managed a portfolio of more than half-a-million online domains.
