Online Ad Spending Projected to Surpass All Media

Last week, Danny Sullivan’s Search Engine Land posted a new advertising spending forecast by the private equity and investment firm Veronis Suhler Stevenson that that projects Internet ad spending to surpass all other media by 2011.

Top Dog Tweaks Its Top AdWords Position

Looks like Google is in the process of updating its algorithm used to determine the top position in its AdWords index. In a nutshell, a stricter threshold will be placed on the quality component for the Adword listing that appears at the top of the Google search results page.

The Value of Integrating Search Marketing in Media Campaigns

On Friday, eMarketer reported an impressive finding by Yahoo! and comScore in an article titled Search and Display Work Better Together. In this report, the researchers discovered that online marketing campaigns that incorporate both search marketing and display ads will convert more visitors to customers than campaigns featuring only one of these formats.

The Most Effective Web 2.0 Offering

Social media offerings and buzz words are flying around as fast as Harry Potter books are flying-off the shelves. However, an interesting study by the American Advertising Federation (AFF) reveals that of all the current “new online media” services (which includes search, and Web 2.0 methods such as online video, podcasts, and blogs), search engine marketing is consider by U.S. advertising executives to be the most effective.

Google Removes “Supplemental Results” Label

Google

Google recently announced on their official Webmaster Central Blog that they will no longer label supplemental results within the search results pages.  Supplemental results provide a way to index more pages from the web without having to search through each page in detail. According to Google:
