Top Dog Tweaks Its Top AdWords Position

Posted by Sean McMahon on 08.08.2007

Looks like Google is in the process of updating its algorithm used to determine the top position in its AdWords index. In a nutshell, a stricter threshold will be placed on the quality component for the Adword listing that appears at the top of the Google search results page.

The article today titled”Want That Top Ad Position on Google? The Rules Are About to Change.” by Barry Schwartz on Search Engine Land states that the updated algorithm will continue to use the quality and cost-per-click (CPC) figure, however it will be slightly tweaked for the top AdWord position. Instead of using the actual CPC, Google will use an advertiser’s maximum CPC in the overall equation.
