SEMpdx Hot Seat Recap
June 18, 2007
I recently had the opportunity to sit on the panel of SEMpdx’s June Hot Seat. This monthly event is hosted by the Portland, Oregon Search Engine Marketing Association (SEMpdx) whom our very own Sean McMahon sits on the board. The association’s mission is to inform and educate Portland area businesses on the benefits of search engine marketing (SEM).
The format of the Hot Seat event involves a panel of search marketing experts giving advice on 5-6 participants sites. I think the most important point I took away from the event was the participant’s general lack of understanding about the importance of keyword research and basic search engine optimization (SEO).
Overall, I believe that the event provides tremendous value to the site owners as well as attendees. I hope to have the opportunity to contribute to another SEMpdx Hot Seat again.
